Italys tourism feels back in full force and daily life has resumed as normal. Some people wear masks in grocery stores, trains, or other public areas but not many. On the train back to Rome airport, we saw staff sanitizing handrails in all the train cars. Lines at FCO airport seemed typical, and we passed through check-in, security and customs relatively quickly on a weekday morning. We didnt have to show any Covid documents, only passports.

We flew into Florence, Italy and took trains through Tuscany in September. To enter Italy, we only needed our passports. Air Dolomiti airlines required masks on the flight.

The Florence airport tram into town had signs that masks were required but maybe 50% of people were masked. Around Florence, it is as busy as ever and highly recommended to make reservations for big attractions in advance. Masks were still required on the regional trains in Italy, enforced by staff and audio announcements. Otherwise, tourism does seem back to normal.

I flew today to Rome from Croatia. They didnt ask for anything covid related. No test or vax cards. But we had to wear N95 mask on the plane, thats it.

Italians are still taking things pretty serious, regarding masks, etc.

Visa Requirements For Americans For Japanese Visit Visa

Visiting Japan as an American citizen requires some knowledge of the visa requirements. Currently, U.S. citizens do not need visas for short-term visits .

However, they must have a valid passport and an onward/return ticket when entering Japan. The passport must also be valid for the entire time the traveler is staying in Japan.

For stays longer than 90 days, travelers will need to seek a change of status or obtain an appropriate visa such as a work visa.

Its important to note that people without a working visa are not allowed to work in Japan. If found working illegally, they can be subject to arrest and deportation. In addition, individuals entering Japan without a working visa who intend to work can be denied entry.

U.S. citizens planning to stay in Japan longer than 90 days should visit one of the nearest Japanese Immigration Information Centers for advice.

They may also need to register their address with their residences municipal office and obtain a Resident Card from regional immigration offices.

Foreign attorneys taking depositions in Japan must apply for a special deposition visa at the Japanese Embassy or a Japanese Consulate in the U.S. A photocopy of the commission or court order will be required.

• Aside from Italy, you will not visit any other Schengen country.
• You will visit more Schengen states, but Italy is your main destination, which means:
• You will be spending more days in Italy, than in the other countries.
• You will be spending an equal amount of days in each country, but you will enter the Schengen Zone through Italy.

Moreover, you will be permitted to file an Italy short-stay visa application at an Italian Embassy / Consulate / VAC only if you are a:

• A citizen of the country from where you are applying.
• A foreign citizen on a permanent/temporary residence permit in the country from where you are applying.

You cannot apply for a short-stay Italian visa from a country in which you are currently on a visa.

Best Time To Visit Italy

Italy is overcrowded during the summer season, from May to August. However, if the cold doesn’t bother you much and you would like to visit Italy when it is quiet, then the winter season is your best option. The Winter seasons fall between November and March, when you can get the best bargain deals without the jostling crowds.

The spring season falls between March and May, when you can enjoy the best seasonal meals and enjoy festivals in Italy. At the same time, you experience autumn between September and October when the crowds are reasonably low.

• Nationals of Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of South Korea, the United States of America that wish to stay longer in Italy need to obtain a residence permit at the relevant Italian authorities, within three months of arrival in Italy.
• Nationals of the rest of the Italy visa-exempt countries that wish to stay longer in Italy will have to apply for an Italian National visa for long stays from their country of residence.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you understand the 90/180 Schengen Visa Rule. Avoid breaking this guideline because remaining too long in the Schengen area may result in penalties.

Covid 19 Related Entry Requirements For Italy

Regardless of destination or purpose of travel in Italy, you must comply with the covid-19 requirements in place for Italy. Currently, you must present one of the following upon arrival in Italy:

• A vaccination certificate, showing the completion of the primary vaccination dose or booster dose. Here is a list of vaccination accepted in Italy.
• Recovery certificate from SARS-CoV-2 infection. The certificate is valid for 180 days from the positive swab test.
• Rapid antigen or molecular swab test with a negative result.

For your vaccination certificate to be recognized by the Italian Government, it must contain:

• Identification data of the holder
• Data relating to the vaccine,
• Dates of administration of the vaccine,
• Identification data of who issued the certificate, and
• Must be in Italian, English, French, Spanish, or German.
• If the vaccination certificate is in another language, you must provide a sworn translation.

If you fail to provide any one of these documents, you will have to undergo 5 days of quarantine and take molecular or antigen tests at the end of it. In addition, you must always wear a mask in Italy and follow the WHO recommend precautions against covid-19 when traveling in Italy.

What To Know About Restrictions
